Kaziranga Day - II (Bagori Range)
It was dark, the sun
had not yet risen, it was cold up there in that machan-like platform that was
level with the elephant's back. The mist was disconcerting; it created a
illusion of warmth, it was so much like smoke but when it touched you it was
damp, limp hand. ~ Jahnavi Barua (Rebirth)
Woke up at pre-dawn and headed for Bagori range from our
lodge, it was too cold in the open jeep. I had to grab myself tight to escape
the cold wind. Half an hour later reached there, I was expecting that we will
be first to reach, but to my surprise more than a dozen cars already reached
there and waiting for the elephants to arrive.
Soon after about 6-7 elephants arrived and everyone headed to
the boarding point.

Making way through the tall elephant-grass soaked in dew the grassland delighted me.

Returning back |
After spending about half an hour we returned back to the boarding point feeling mystified with the colours and play of nature.

Mr. Kamal, the owner of Aashray lodge gave us a hearty and warm
welcome.
After lodging in, we relaxed a bit and Kamal da1 sat
for a discussion with us regarding our travel plans and he gave us a brief
intro about the ranges of KNP.
Relaxing |
Then Kamal da gave us the biggest surprise. He told us to get ready as he had made special
arrangement for us for a night safari that too as a complimentary
Excitement filled us, it was just few minutes since we
arrived and we are heading for a night safari!
We immediately got ready and hopped in the Jeep.
Just after hopping in the jeep. Smile reveals the excitement. |
Left the lodge for night safari at 8.30 PM |
Kamal da flashed light towards the opposite side of the bank, swamp deers were grazing and it was such a serene sight. We made effort not to make any sound, least we scare them away.
